What we do

The AAT Foundation stands at the forefront of ethical tourism

Our projects have laid a strong foundation for sustainable development and conservation in the communities we serve. These initiatives have had far-reaching effects on education, wildlife protection, and local economies.

Educational Infrastructure

We have constructed KG and Primary schools in Brenu Akyinim, Breku, and Bonkro, providing education to over 600 children. All equipped with essential facilities such as washrooms, handwashing stations, and staff rooms.

Skills Development

The foundation sponsors apprenticeships in various trades, including tailoring, hairdressing, mechanics, masonry, electrical, and carpentry, fostering practical skills, giving economic opportunities for local youth.

Rainforest Conservation

We are currently safeguarding over 1000 hectares of endangered Upper Guinea rainforest, with an ambitious goal to expand this protected area to 3000 hectares within the next five years.

Economic Empowerment

We have built the Picathartes Guesthouse in Bonkro, featuring 21 rooms. This establishment not only provides accommodation for tourists but also generates income that directly supports community projects.

Sustainable Agriculture

The fountaion has introduced environmentally conscious farming practices, including snail farming, bush meat farming, and beekeeping. This way we promote food security, provide alternative income sources, and reduce pressure on forest habitat and wild animal populations.

Wildlife Protection

We take a proactive stance in safeguarding Africa’s diverse wildlife, focusing on endangered and vulnerable species. By sponsoring 24 community committee members to patrol the Nyame Bepe Forest Reserve, we create a sense of ownership and responsibility among locals.

What we have achieved

Educational Infrastructure

The construction of schools and washrooms in Brenu Akyinim, Breku, and Bonkro has significantly improved access to education and hygiene facilities for hundreds of children. These projects have created conducive learning environments and promoted better health practices in the communities.

Conservation Infrastructure

The construction of bridges in Ankasa Reserve has not only promoted responsible tourism but also facilitated better management and protection of the reserve. These bridges allow for easier access for rangers and researchers while minimizing disturbance to the ecosystem.

Community Engagement

By sponsoring local youth football teams in multiple communities, Ashanti African Tours has fostered social cohesion and provided healthy recreational activities for young people. This initiative also helps identify and nurture local sporting talent.
